US Ready to Launch Outer Space Internet

US preparing the internet network at outer space, the router carrier satellite will be launched. This project from Defense Department called Internet Routing in Space (IRIS). This project as a purpose to voice communication, video and data facilities for US Military.
This project is one of seven technology development projects funded by JCDT (Joint Capability Technology Demonstration) from Defense Department. IRIS will be managed by Intelsat General, the outer space router hardware will be developed by SEAKR Engineering. Last the Cisco Systems will develop the routing software.
The router carrier satellite, IS-14, will be launched at Q1 2009. We need to wait about 2 years for this giant project from America.
