This is a strategy from Microsoft to open up the new commercial track for Windows Vista consumer, although the recent survey found that the market acceptance of Vista is not so excited.

The survey which was done by a US market research company, Harris Interactive, showed that only 10% of responders plan to upgrade to Vista in the near future. Among 2,223 responders, 87% of them have known Vista operating system, but only 12% of them plan to do the upgrade.

The survey also found that, though a lot of people waited for the launching of Vista before buying the new computer, 60% of them said that the launching didn’t affect their budget. It also revealed that 79% of responders are still using Windows XP at their home.

Robert Epstein, a spokesman from Microsofit for Europe regional said that PC producers can still use the Windows licensing till year 2009, if they bought it from third party suppliers. According to him, stop supplying the Windows XP licensing doesn’t imply to the long term technical support. “This is meant only supplying of new license to new computer”, says Epstein. “We will continue to give tehnical support for XP for a certain period of time.”

Microsoft also reminded those who is still using the earlier Vista version, as the software will no longer active starting 1st June 2007.
